What is Citiq Advance?
Citiq Advance is Citiq Prepaid’s emergency electricity advance facility.
How do I qualify for an Advance?
To qualify, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- Be registered on the Citiq Prepaid Tenant Application with a linked electricity meter.
- Be over 18 years of age.
- Have made regular purchases over the preceding 3 months.
How long does it take to register for the Advance?
If the spending history on the meter qualifies, a user can register for a Citiq Advance. The registration process is quick and easy: All you need is your phone number, ID number, and a digital copy of your ID. After accepting the Terms and Conditions, the Advance token will be processed and should be available within 3 hours.
How much can I be advanced?
We will evaluate your meter’s spending history to establish the amount we can advance. Typically, this amounts to approximately half of the monthly electricity expenditure for that meter, with a minimum advance of R50 and a maximum advance of R1,000. An advance may only be redeemed in full, as no partial advances are allowed.
How do I redeem my advance?
The Citiq Advance can be accessed via the Citiq Prepaid Tenant App.
How much does taking out an Advance cost?
There are zero upfront fees when taking out an Advance and a 15% Service Fee payable when settling the account. When taking an advance, no other fees (service, channel, etc.) will apply, and there will be no hidden fees later down the line!
Example:
– In January, you purchased R250
– In February, you purchased R300
– In March, you purchased R350
Your average spend over the last three months has been R300, and you qualify for an advance limit of R150.
How do I repay my Advance?
Citiq will automatically deduct 50% of your next purchase value and the applicable access fee to contribute to your Advance Balance until it is fully settled. You can make these purchases via the app or in-store vendors.
No more actions or charges will be needed. There are no additional charges when repaying your advance on top of the standard fee structure.
If you want to settle the Advance fully, you can do so directly within the Citiq Prepaid App.
How can I increase my limit?
You cannot increase your limit because it is based on the spending on your meter in the previous three months.
When can I take another advance?
You will have access to your next advance within 3 hours of settling your Advance.
Why can’t I take an advance, but I could before?
There may have been a change in your qualifying criteria.
How do I view the terms and conditions?
The terms and conditions can be viewed on the Citiq Advance website and accepted through the Citiq Prepaid Tenant App during registration.
Why can't I see the Citiq Advance tab on my app?
If you cannot see the Citiq Advance tab, you need to update to the latest version of the app.
If the Citiq Advance tab is visible but registration is unavailable, or there is an R0.00 Advance balance, the meter most likely does not meet our spending criteria.
Why can’t I take an advance, but I could before?
Based on the qualification criteria (to discuss the application process after the 1st advance taken)
All outstanding balances on your Citiq Advance must be paid in full before you can apply for another Citiq Advance. (from the terms and conditions).
How will Citiq handle my personal information?
Citiq Prepaid collects and retains your personal information to administer the Citiq Advance Service and may share it with relevant third-party service providers as necessary. This is done under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and Citiq’s Privacy Policy.
